Ok, so all of you who are gushing over The Hunger Games movie, understand that the message of the books is the warning of how entertainment can be used to distract us from real life, and the kind of shit that can go on while we’re distracted. Were this movie done right, reality TV ratings would drop virtually over night, and the Occupy Movement would have a resurgence of protesters and outraged people. Instead we have a movie that in no way influences us to do either of those things, in fact it only coddles our complacency.
Wake up you ass holes.
I went to this movie expecting a sign of our times, a real change in our society that would be reflected upon the big screen, comparable to the attitudes reflected in the post WW2 era of noir films and the counter culture films of the 60’s like Harold and Maude. Instead I was slapped in the face with a movie that blatantly ignored the message of it’s origins, in order to ride the wave of some unforeseen trend before all the potential revenue gained from it had dwindled. A real message was passed on in favor of some perverted get-rich-quick scheme, and I say FUCK THAT SHIT! BOYCOTT THE HUNGER GAMES
